Hattie Stell Wilk

Listen to Obituary

Hattie Stell Wilk was a dedicated mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother as well as a respected member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Polish community. She was born in Jacksonville, Arkansas on August 12, 1942 and after that spent the remainder of her life in Marche with her family and her church. She passed away September 15, 2025 peacefully in her sleep.

Hattie spent her early life working as a cashier at Blue Hill Grocery and Kirby’s. Her children recall stories of her meeting her late husband, David Wilk, while working at a dry cleaners in Little Rock in her teenage years. After finishing her career at Target Distribution Center, she became a caregiver for many family members.

She ultimately found great joy in taking care and raising her grandchildren. An attentive mom, loving grandmother who was affectionately called “Nanny” and a devoted great-grandmother.

A woman known for her work ethic, Hattie never rested to make sure her family was provided for. She worked tirelessly to create home cooked meals, extravagant family holidays, and hosted countless sleepovers for her grandchildren. She made sure no one ever went home hungry, and she took great pride in her family’s successes. A master seamstress, with a husband who knew how to repair sewing machines, her family always looked their best, and she made sure those skills were passed down to her children.

She was the daughter of Albert Melton Stell and Albina Agnes Bargiel. Preceded by her devoted husband of 44 years, David Wilk. Survived by her children, Dolores Wilk, Matthew Wilk, Melinda Crawford, and Caroline Elmore (John), her grandchildren, Nathan (Miranda), Patrick, and Catherine Crawford and Andrew J. Baker (Jennifer), and great-grandchildren Bo and Austin Baker, Evelyn and Lydia Crawford, and many other close family and friends, especially the late Louie Zakrzewski and his family.

We want to thank the Lakes of Maumelle team for the care and grace they extended to her, as well as all of her friends and family for their support and friendship through the years.
