Helen Stephens, age 81, passed away January 1, 2011 at her home in Cabot. She was born Ana Angelica Green on September 22, 1929 in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico. She met a handsome American soldier who was stationed in San Juan; they married and came to live in Arkansas in 1947. They were married fifty-three years when Shelby Stephens, Sr. died in 2000. Helen and Shelby owned and operated Shelby's Meat Markets in Little Rock for eighteen years. Helen was a faithful and devoted servant of Jehovah God since 1954. She has entered into a deep sleep awaiting the resurrection that Jehovah has promised.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years, Shelby Stephens; her mother and father, Adela and Cruz Green, both of Puerto Rico; sister, Lolita Green of Puerto Rico and three brothers.
She is survived by her three children, Shelby, Jr. and wife, Barbara of Little Rock; Cynthia Arroyo and husband, Ulises of Cabot; Deborah Simpson and husband, Gary of Little Rock; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Domitila Green of Puerto, Rico.
Services will be at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses located at 2630 W. Main Street in Jacksonville on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Brother Ben Ford officiating.
