Hershal E. Miller

Hershal E. Miller, 79, of Benton, Arkansas, passed away on July 29, 2026. He was born on June 12, 1947, in Coy, Arkansas, to the late Edward Hall and Tresy (Rhinehart) Miller.

Hershal proudly served his country in the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge, he built a career as a field merchandiser serving local convenience stores, where his dependable work ethic and friendly nature were appreciated by many.

More than anything, Hershal will be remembered for the way he cared for others. He was the kind of neighbor everyone hopes to have—always willing to lend a helping hand, mow a yard, share fresh vegetables from his garden, or keep a watchful eye on a neighbor's home. Even after becoming a double amputee, Hershal never allowed his circumstances to define him or keep him from serving those around him. His generosity, resilience, and quiet acts of kindness left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Hershal shared a special life with his beloved wife, Paula. Together they enjoyed spending weekends exploring flea markets in search of hidden treasures and simple joys. At home, he could often be found enjoying a good western, with Gunsmoke and The Rifleman among his favorites.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Hall and Tresy Miller; his brothers, Bud and Joe Miller; and one sister.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Paula Miller; sons, Charles Carter and David Miller; step-sons, Aaron Hanson and wife Jaime, Todd Hanson and wife Elizabeth, and Jonas Hanson; grandchildren, Megan Miller, Jonathon Hanson, and Julia Hanson; brother, Lebron "Sunny" Miller; nieces, Tami Kelim and Jaime Miller; and the many special neighbors who became more like family through the years.

The family will hold a private service at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery.
