Houston C. Jones, Jr., age 94, of Glenwood, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 24, 2026.
He was born on November 11, 1931, in Marks Mississippi. He was the son of Houston Carl Jones, Sr., and Mary Louise Ellis Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Billie Jo Jones; his sister, Audrey Hobgood; his two sons, Robert O. Jones and William C. Jones; his son-in-law, Don Toomey; his grandson, Chris Jones; and his daughter, Cynthia Lynn Rice.
On June 22, 1962, Houston married the love of his life, Billie Jo Jones. Together they built a beautiful life filled with love and faith. He was a member of Glenwood United Methodist Church. He was a proud alumni of Mississippi State. For many years he worked as an insurance adjuster. He served in the Masonic Lodge as Secretary for 25 years. He was a kind, gentle, southern man that was a true gentleman. Most of all he loved being with his family and being grandpa to his grandchildren. Houston was a wonderful husband, daddy, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Houston is survived by his daughter, Demetra Toomey of Cleveland, Tennessee; his son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Lyn Jones of Glenwood; seven grandchildren, Keith Jones, Chrissy Rhea, Robert Jones, Jesse Jones, Melanie McCollum, Demi Kinney and Donnie Rice; his great-grandchildren, Carly Jo, Katelyn, J.D., Brett, Bradley, Brady, Cora, Jude, Ryan, Sawyer, Hailey, Nate, Hayes, and Braylan; his great-great-granddaughters, Harper Lindsey and Emma Jo Lindsey; and many uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 2, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel- Glenwood with Bro. Glen Harris officiating.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2026 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel- Glenwood.
Interment will be held at Valley Grove Cemetery.
