Howard Dennis Brazeal, a man known for his adventurous spirit and warm personality, passed away on February 22, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter. Born on May 9, 1960, in Hughes, Arkansas, Dennis's journey in life was marked by his service to the country and his unwavering faith.
After proudly serving in the United States Army, Dennis embarked on a career as a dedicated truck driver for over 30 years. Dennis was a member of the American Legion, Post 53 in West Memphis, Arkansas. His work ethic and commitment were evident to all who knew him. Beyond his professional endeavors, Dennis enjoyed exploring new places and was always on the move. His favorite snacks, Dr. Pepper and peanut M&Ms, were constant companions during his travels.
Dennis had a special place in his heart for animals, particularly his beloved dog Tank. He found joy in their companionship and cherished moments spent with them. Additionally, Dennis's family was central to his life. As a God-fearing man, he once took on the role of a Pentecostal preacher, sharing his faith with others.
Described as having a wonderful personality and a great sense of humor, Dennis had a unique way of making everyone feel like family. He was affectionately named "Great U," a title that he embraced wholeheartedly. Dennis's circle of loved ones extended far and wide. He is known to have been a ladies man, and loved women in every shape and fashion.
Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, Joe Brazeal and Gladys Daris Dirion Brazeal, along with his sister Linda Brown.
He is survived by his children: Howard D. Brazeal Jr. ("Say-mantha"), Andrea Wieck (Jason), Brandilyn Brazeal (Pete), Courtney Brazeal-Bruno (Kausher), Kaila Brazeal (Jay), Brittney Brazeal-Beard (Allen), Bridget Goodwin (Eric); as well as 16 grandchildren; brothers Glenn Brazeal (Reeda) and Rodney Brazeal (Michelle); sisters Judy Hataway, Sandra Hathcock (Jim), Leiona Cook; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members; and friends who will always hold Dennis dear in their hearts.
Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at the VA hospitals in Memphis and Little Rock, as well as to Dr. Garrett and Dr. Teach and staff at Baptist East in Memphis for the compassionate care given to Dennis and his family.
The visitation for Dennis will take place at Smith Family Funeral Home in Benton on Friday, March 1st from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A graveside service will be held at Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion, Arkansas on Saturday, March 2nd at 1:00 PM.
