Forever Our Superhero 💜
Hudson (Huddy) Ty Simmons, age 8, of Glenwood, Arkansas, was born on August 20, 2018. On October 14, 2026, surrounded by a love greater than words could ever describe, Huddy fell asleep in his mama’s arms and woke up in the arms of Jesus.
Some people spend a lifetime making an impact on this world. Huddy only needed eight short years to touch countless hearts.
Huddy was pure sunshine wrapped up in a little boy with beautiful blue eyes, red hair, freckles, and a smile that could light up the darkest room. He had the most wonderful sense of humor and wanted nothing more than to make everyone around him smile. There was always a joke to tell, a reason to laugh, and a smile to share.
And then there were his hugs. Oh, those hugs. The kind that made you forget everything else for a moment. Huddy loved with his whole heart, and those blessed enough to receive one of his hugs will spend a lifetime wishing for just one more.
Huddy loved superheroes, monster trucks, fast cars, basketball, video games, and watching his favorite YouTuber, Unspeakable. He loved Scottie Pippen, the color purple, and making memories with those he loved.
His big brother, Tucker, was also his very best friend. They were partners in adventures, teammates in life, and shared a bond that could never be broken. Though their time together was far too short, their love will last forever.
Huddy and his mama shared a special bond, a love that couldn’t be broken. She was his comfort, his safe place, and the person he knew would always be there. Through every laugh, every tear, and every battle, she was right beside him. One of his sweetest sayings was, “Mama, I’m fine!” Words that now hold a meaning deeper than anyone could have imagined.
Above all else, Huddy loved Jesus. His faith was extraordinary for someone so young. When faced with a battle no child should ever endure, he said:
“God picked me to have this and He’s going to help me.”
And he believed it with his whole heart.
On November 23, 2025, Huddy was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). He faced unimaginable challenges with courage that earned him the name Super Huddy. But cancer never defined him. He was defined by his laughter, kindness, faith, and love.
Hudson leaves behind his loving mother, Bethany; father, Seth; stepfather, Patrick; beloved brother and best friend, Tucker; and sisters, Grace, Leah, and Alice.
He is also survived by his grandparents, Scott and Linda Vaughn and Delmas and Launa Simmons; great-grandparents, Patsy Thornton and Don and Ruth Vaughn; aunts and uncles, Kevin and Tori Vaughn, Derek and Kyleigh Vaughn, Alex and Hailey Vaughn, Jeremy and Becky Ramer, and Mike and Jaclyn Ramer; and many loving cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Jennifer Oliver; maternal great-grandfather, Dale Thornton; and paternal great-grandparents, Seldon and Helen Simmons and Wylie and Bettye Jones.
Huddy’s eight years were nowhere near enough, but the love he gave will last forever. His family will carry his laughter, hugs, courage, and faith in their hearts until they meet again.
And perhaps the sweetest comfort is imagining Huddy, completely healed, smiling at his mama and saying once more:
“Mama, I’m fine!”
And this time, sweet boy, we know you truly are.
This is not goodbye, Huddy. It’s see you in the morning.
“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” — Matthew 19:14
