Ira Sims

Ira C. Sims, 77, of Ward passed away July 21, 2020.  He was born February 13, 1943 in Gravesville, Arkansas.

Ira was a proud Navy veteran.  He ran a successful construction company serving Arkansas, especially Lonoke county for many years.  Ira and his wife built, owned, and operated Butlerville grocery, car wash, and mini storage as well. After retirement he enjoyed spending time on his farm, taking care of his land and cattle.  Ira was most proud of his “sweetie-pie”, Frances, and the family they created.

He is preceded in death by his father Arie Sims, mother Icelean Sims - Walker, stepfather John Walker and an infant sister.

Ira is survived by his wife of 55 years, Frances, three children; Don Sims (Shelia), Tammy Smith, and Debbie Hill (Scott), seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, three sisters as well as many other family and friends.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, July 23rd 2020 at Smith – Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe.  Funeral will be 1:00 PM Friday.  Burial will be in Butlerville Cemetery.  Social distancing guidelines will be strictly adhered to.  Arrangements by Smith – Westbrook Funeral Home.  www.smithfamilycares.com
