Ivan Waters
Ivan D. Waters, 85, of Ward went to be with his Lord on Saturday, July 6, 2013. He was born November 29, 1927 to Vernon and Ida Waters in Austin, Arkansas.
Ivan was a veteran having served in the U.S. Air Force. He received an Associate of Arts degree from Agricultural College of Central Arkansas in Beebe. He retired from Safeway after 37 years working primarily as a butcher. His hobbies were gardening and listening to southern gospel music. Ivan was very tender hearted and compassionate and had a love for animals. He was a member of First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church of Ward.
Ivan was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Phillips Waters. He is survived by his children, Dale Waters (Frances) of Little Rock, Bruce Waters (Emily) of Sherwood, and Susan Thigpen (Grant) of Naples, FL; grandchildren Julie Waters, Eric Waters, Bruce Waters II, Brian Waters and Stephen Thigpen, 3 great grandchildren, dear friend, Mary Lody and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Monday, July 8, 2013 at Westbrook Funeral Home, 404 W. Dewitt Henry Drive, Beebe, Arkansas and a celebration of life will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Westbrook Funeral Home. Burial will be at Sixteenth Section Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice in remembrance of Ivan.
