Iza Mell Irene McCoy, 102, born February 21, 1923, passed away on July 30, 2025. Her home was in Bonnerdale, Arkansas, at the homestead where her life began and where her memory will live on. She was the seventh of eleven children born to Arthur McCoy of Magnet Cove and Ava Etta Hopkins of Ola.
Iza is survived by her daughter, Pamela Marcus of Leesburg, Virginia, and grandson, Gabriel Marcus of Seattle, Washington, as well as several generations of nieces and nephews who will remember her for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith.
In the early 1940s, Iza moved to Southern California to support the World War II industrial effort, working at Vultee Aircraft (later Rockwell). During the 1960s, she was ordained by the Full Gospel Tabernacle in Los Angeles and dedicated herself to Christian outreach, especially among homeless and underserved communities. She continued this ministry for decades, both in California and after returning to Arkansas, creating an extended family built on love and faith.
Her life was marked by humble service, spiritual devotion, and a deep sense of compassion. Scripture and song were constant companions- favorites included the Psalm 23, Philippians 4:8, and the Hymn "In The Garden."
She lived her faith daily, demonstrating it through action more than words. Her legacy is one of quiet strength and unshakable belief.
Her service will be at Smith Family Funeral Home, Glenwood, AR, on Monday, August 4, 2025, at 10:00 AM with Bro. Jimmy Forsythe officiating.
She will be interred at Bonnerdale Seventh Day Adventist Cemetery in Bonnerdale, AR, following services.
Written 7.31.3025 Pamela, Gabriel Marcus, and Jeff Short.
