Jack was born to Johnny and Vivian Funk on July 3, 1929. He graduated from Little Rock Central High in 1947 and went on to serve in the United States Naval Reserve for nine years as an instructor.
He was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church and later was an active member of the First Lutheran Church Men’s Softball team as a fast-pitch pitcher, going on to win three straight titles in the Church League.
He went on to own a multi-generational family concrete business called John H. Funk & Son. He was an active member of First Lutheran Church in downtown Little Rock then Christ Lutheran and most recently Grace Lutheran in Hillcrest. He served his church as an usher.
Jack was an avid fisherman and loved to tend his garden. He would host large backyard fish fries and share zucchini with anyone who would have it.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents John C. and Vivian Funk, his son John David Funk, and a son-in-law Marshall Johnson II.
He was cared for by his wife of 48 years, Pat, who was the love of his life and took wonderful care of him. He is survived by his wife, Pat, daughter, Christi Shobe, sister, Lorraine Hannah, grandchildren, Alicia Chambers (Vaughan), Stephanie Funk (Steve McCratic) who he raised as his own, Jessica Funk, Melanie Stuursma (Joel), David Shobe (Rachel), and great- grandchildren, Ashley Lowry, Charlie and Piper McCratic, Penelope Stuursma, Andrew Shobe, Hayden, Wyatt and Karlee Shepherd.

He had many friends and family members who will miss him.
Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 pm Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Smith Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Court. Services will be led by Pastor Schaaf at 11:30 am Thursday, October 14, 2021, at Grace Lutheran Church, 5124 Hillcrest. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Park, Alexander.
