Jacob Eduard "Eddy" Diaz, of St. Louis, Missouri, began a new journey on October 29, 2026. Eddy was born in Decatur, Illinois, on March 16, 2001. Though his time on earth was far too short, Eddy made the most of every moment. In just 25 years, he lived a lifetime of adventure, love, laughter, dreams, and unforgettable memories. He touched countless lives and brought joy to so many people along the way.
Eddy possessed a determination unlike any other. His dedication to seeing a dream through was unmatched, whether pursuing his passion for a career in music or facing his final fight for life. No one could ever question how badly Eddy wanted to live, how fiercely he pursued his dreams, or how much he loved the people around him. He approached life with a spirit that refused to give up, and that determination will remain one of the many things people remember about him.
Throughout his life, Eddy called several places home, including Illinois, South Carolina, Tennessee, Monterrey, Arkansas, and ultimately St. Louis, Missouri. While in St. Louis, he pursued his passion for producing music and proudly supported his beloved Cardinals, who he was a devoted fan of since the age of five.
Eddy was a traveler at heart. His adventures took him to Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, Australia, New Zealand, and Peru. He loved New Orleans, Colorado, and Los Angeles, although the Grand Canyon didn't live up to the hype. He always had another adventure on the horizon, with trips to Utila, and Niagara Falls (Canadian side) planned, and hopes of visiting Italy before his health forced him to alter his plans. Some of his favorite memories were made on float trips with his four "brothers from another mother," friendships that brought him countless moments of laughter and happiness.
Above all, Eddy cherished his family. He married the love of his life, Alauna Plummer, earlier this year. One of Eddy’s greatest successes in this life is the commitment he made to Alauna.
Eddy and Alauna quickly discovered that living together was even better than they had ever expected. They shared countless memories, from riding together in the GTI and driving past the Gateway Arch in their home city of St. Louis to traveling and exploring new places together to the simplicity of a “week reset,” where they would clean and listen to records on vinyl. Eddy was especially proud that one of his final drives took him past the Arch, a place that held a special meaning for the two of them. Together, they traveled to Monterey, where Alauna had the opportunity to meet Eddy’s dad’s side of the family, Florida, where Eddy had the opportunity to meet Alauna’s family, Arkansas, where they cherished the time they had with Eddy’s mom’s side of the family, as well as New Orleans, a place that held a special place in Eddy’s heart. Other favorites included Chicago and as many botanical gardens as they could visit.
Whether they were traveling somewhere new, enjoying the simple moments at home, or spending time together, they made the most of every opportunity. Eddy especially enjoyed stopping by Alauna’s workplace to watch Buffalo Bills games while she was serving. Alauna may have forgotten to send his order a time or two, but he still came back every single week.
Eddy and Alauna built a lot of their story on the games they both enjoyed playing. Whether it was RDR1 and 2, Skate on the 360, Fallout: New Vegas, GTA5, or their ongoing battleship tournament, where Alauna always tried to sneak herself an extra win or two, their love was built stronger by the games they played together along the way. Their love for games has seeped into their definitions, as Eddy loved calling uncomfortable moments “un-skippable cutscenes.” That is a phrase Alauna is proudly going to continue incorporating in her day-to-day vocabulary.
Their relationship was filled with laughter, adventures, and the kind of everyday moments that become the most treasured memories. Above all, the life they built together was something neither of them could have ever expected to be quite so wonderful.
Eddy was a proud father to Maya, who was among his greatest joys. He also took great pride in his many plants, known for referring to himself as the "Plant Daddy." Eddy was also an accomplished paintball player in Arkansas and in Monterrey, Mexico, a hobby he loved. Whether caring for his family, tending to his plants, making music, traveling, or simply enjoying the company of those he loved, Eddy found ways to make life meaningful.
Eddy is survived by his wife, Alauna Plummer mother Jennifer and Greg Henington, father Omar and Diana Diaz, sister Melissa Nevarez, and other family members who loved him dearly.
Eddy leaves behind more than memories. He leaves stories worth telling, adventures worth remembering, laughter that will continue to be shared, and a legacy of love that cannot be measured by the number of years he lived. As Abraham Lincoln once said, "And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years." In just 25 years, Eddy lived a lifetime. He dreamed big, loved deeply, traveled widely, fought courageously, and gave joy to so many. His story may have ended far sooner than anyone could have imagined, but the impact of his life will continue through everyone fortunate enough to have known and loved him.
