James Louie Abernathy

James Louie Abernathy, age 72, of Mount Ida, Arkansas, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024.

He was born on April 20, 1951, in Dumas, Arkansas to L.L. Abernathy and Alice Ozella (Powell) Abernathy. He was preceded in death by his son, James Matthew Abernathy; his parents; and his five sisters.

James married the love of his life, Linda (Fryar) Abernathy on December 16, 1976. James and Linda made their home in Mount Ida; he worked at Munro and Company for 42 years before retiring. He loved being able to spend time with his kids and grandkids. He was an amazing husband, father, and papa, and traveled many miles to spend as much time as he could with them. He loved going to yard sales and thrifting. James will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

James is survived by his wife, Linda, of 47 years; his three daughters, Jamie (Hector) Warnick of Mount Ida, Cari (Bobby) Moyer of Lexington, South Carolina, and Becky (Dusty) Rhoades of Gravelly; his ten grandchildren, Kristen, Breanna, Jessica, Andy, Eli, Colby, Madalynn, Lakin, Baelynn, and Tripp; his three great-grandchildren, Paisley, Connor, and Sierra; his one brother, Elbert (Debbie) Abernathy; his five sisters, Millie (PeeWee) Bates, Shirley Westerman, Wilma (Earl) Bayird, Carolyn (Frank) Bittle, Mina Bea Beatty; and his constant companion and grand-dog, Lucky. 

Pallbearers will be Hector Warnick, Dusty Rhoades, Josh LaGrange, Jody Abernathy, Daniel Crump, and Andy Moyer.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Faith Tabernacle Church with Bro. Greg Bland officiating. Visitation will be held an hour prior at 1:00 PM.
