James Elvis Dunn

Listen to Obituary

James "Elvis" Dunn, 82, of Conway, AR went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, July 10, 2026. Born on Valentines Day 1944, Elvis was the firstborn of four children to the late James Virgil Dunn and Martha Kathleen Nations Dunn.

A devoted follower of Christ, Elvis lived his life with a big heart, a ready smile, and a love for music that reflected the joy of his faith. His favorite volunteer jobs were greeting and working in bible school. He was a faithful husband, loving father, and cherished brother who found his greatest joy in family and serving others. His warm personality and sense of humor touched everyone who knew him, and he will be deeply missed by all whose lives he brightened.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Sherry Kay Mattox Dunn; his son, Jimmy Dunn; his brother, Steve Dunn (Susan); sister-in-law, Linda Dunn; brother-in-law, Bill Mattox; sister, Linda Stacks; nieces Kasey Lindsey (Scott) and Jennifer Stacks (Joey); and nephews Blake Dunn (Alicia), Bryan Dunn (Melissa), and Benny Stacks (Barbara).

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Marshall Caryl Dunn, brother-in-law Ron Stacks, and his sister-in-law Margie Mattox.

Though we grieve today, we do not grieve as those who have no hope. Elvis has finished his race and entered into the presence of the Lord he loved so dearly... Elvis has finally left the building!

A visitation will be held 10am on Saturday July 18th at Central Baptist Church, located at 3333 Dave Ward Drive in Conway, AR, followed by a memorial service at 11am.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to your favorite charity in Elvis' memory.
