James E. Terry, 77, passed away on October 4, 2026. Born on January 16, 1949, James will be remembered as a loving, kind, and generous man whose life was marked by devotion to his family, his faith, and the things he loved most.
James served his country honorably in the United States Army for seven years. Following his military service, he went on to retire after a lengthy career at the VA Hospital. He was also an honorary deacon at East End Assembly of God Church, where he and his wife worshiped together, and his faith remained an important part of his life.
He found great joy in the open road and in time spent outdoors. James loved riding motorcycles and owned several Harley Davidsons over the years. His enjoyment of the Harley-Davidson legacy also extended to collecting Harley Davidson models. He was an active member of the Christian Motorcycle Association, a reflection of both his love of motorcycles and his Christian faith. In his younger years, he loved fishing for bass and owned more than one bass boat, making many memories on the water.
Above all, James was very proud of being a father and grandfather to his children and grandchildren. His family knew him as a steady and caring presence, and his love for them was one of the defining blessings of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Terry; his daughters Wendy Raborn (Joseph), Chera Lunsford (Darren); his son James Terry (Rachel). He is also survived by his brother, Ronald Terry. Those who loved James will carry forward the memory of his warmth, his generosity, and the quiet strength with which he lived. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Virgil and Dovie Terry and sister, Betty Janski.
Visitation will be held on October 8, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at East End Assembly-God Church, 21608 N Springlake Rd, Hensley, Arkansas 72065.
