In memory of James Henry Smith, 77, born November 21, 1948, in Jackson, Tennessee, to Roy Lee and Florence Smith. He passed away on July 26, 2026, while living in Heber Springs, Arkansas. He leaves his sister, Sandra Keller, six nephews, and two nieces. He was preceded by his brother Jerry Lee “Smoochy” Smith.

He lived a simple life, working as a painter in the construction industry. He served in the U.S. Navy and spent a year in Vietnam, where he saved a fellow shipmate’s life. He received a Navy commendation medal for this act of heroism.

He was a musician and artist, enjoyed golf and baseball, and had many good times fishing with his nephews, Doug and Steven Zweig.

Burial with military honors will be at the Birdeye Veterans Cemetery in Cherry Valley, Arkansas, on Friday, July 31, at 12 p.m.
