James Monroe Fulks, loving husband, father and friend passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2025 due to complications of Parkinson’s disease. Jim spent his remaining days in the home with Hospice Care. He was born November 10, 1943 in California, MO to Frank Fulks and Velma (Strickfaden) Fulks. Cherishing his memory is his wife, Bonnie (Alpers) Fulks; one son, Patrick Fulks and his wife Beth Fulks. One daughter, Karen (Fulks) Clark and her husband Gary Clark. Two granddaughters, Amber (Fulks) Hone and her husband Darren Hone and Lauren Fulks.
He was in the Army Reserves in high school which was followed by a term of service in the Army. After the Army he attended Capital Business College in Jefferson City. August 10 1964, he began his 37 years of employment by Reliable Life Insurance Co. He retired May 1, 2001. This career lead to being located in Jefferson City, MO; California, MO; Macon, MO; Sikeston, MO; Bloomington, IL; and finally to Maumelle, AR; where he retired.
His passion was church, golf and softball. He helped with various projects at Immaculate Heart of Mary. He was also a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus with which he served in various capacities including several terms as Grand Knight.
When he moved to Maumelle he thought his softball years were over. By turning 50 that year, he was eligible to play Senior Softball. He soon was a team manager, coach, and pitcher, for a traveling senior team. He and his wife, Bonnie, traveled to many locations around the United States playing ball, meeting new friends and having a great time. He was inducted into the Arkansas Senior Softball Hall of Fame in 2015. And he was again honored by being inducted into the National Senior Softball Hall of Fame in 2020.
He will always be remembered and missed by his family and friends.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Rosary at 10:30 AM, Monday July 21, 2025 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11:00 AM at the church, with burial at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cemetery. Pallbearers include: Patrick Fulks, Bob Fulks, Jeff Fulks, Gary Clark, Trey McClurkin, and Paul Fulton.
