James "Jim" Harvey Wells, Jr., age 56, of Benton, Arkansas, peacefully passed away on May 21, 2025. He was born August 10, 1968, in Doniphan, Missouri, and lived a life filled with joy, laughter, and love.
Jim was the proud owner of Wells Lawn Care, a business he built with hard work and dedication, and was well known for his strong work ethic and commitment to his customers, some who he had for over 20 years. He also had a great sense of humor and was a devoted father; his family meant the world to him, and he took his role as “Dad” seriously, as well as with pride.
He loved cooking and enjoyed nothing more than gathering with family and friends over a good meal. His “go to” dishes were hearty chili and a full breakfast spread, both of which he made often and with joy. One of his favorite accomplishments in the kitchen was recreating the tater tot casserole from his school days, a dish that became a family staple. He delighted in teaching his daughter how to prepare this dish, ensuring that the cherished recipe would be passed down for generations to come.
He had a soft spot for animals, especially his dog Lilly, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who rarely left his side. Lilly passed away shortly before Jim, and there is comfort in knowing they are together again.
His interests also included a passion for hot rods, especially Corvettes, and an abiding love of music—he took great pride in having the finest sound systems in his cars and would travel far and wide to acquire new CDs for his collection.
His memory is left to be cherished by his children: Johnathan (Susan) Wells, Zach Wells, and Kaylee Wells; his granddaughter, Nova Wells; his mother, Carol Kay Boulain Wells; his brother, Doug Wells and Barb; his nephews, Justin (Ashley) Wells and their two children and Ben (Lacey) Wells and their three children; his sister Brenda (John) Bridson; his nephews, Jeremy Wells and John Bridson Jr. and niece, Jennifer Bridson; as well as many other close family and friends.
He is also survived by his best friend and longtime companion, Debbie Collins, who stood by him through thick and thin, right to the very end.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, James Harvey Wells, a proud Korean War veteran whose patriotism and values Jim carried with him every day.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Smith Family Funeral Home in Benton, 322 N Market Street. Friends and family are invited to come, share stories, and remember a man who lived with heart, humor, and grit.
Though he may be gone, the impact Jim had on the lives he touched, through a laugh, a shared meal, or a helping hand, will be felt for years to come.
