James "J.L." Horton

James L. (J.L.) Horton, age 73, passed away October 8, 2025, at JRMC Hospital. He was a member of Rising Son Baptist Church in Dewitt, Arkansas. He was the son of James O. Horton and Margaret Bronson Horton, who preceded him in death along with a sister, Vara Louise Horton.

He is survived by his beloved sister, Mary Catherine Horton and his favorite cousin, Virgie Carter.

J.L., as he was called by friends and family, was a kind and very caring person. He was a farmer and later worked at Rice Mill. He loved the outdoors. When he was younger, he was an avid deer and coon hunter. He loved to go fishing and later in life, loved to ride around with his sister in the country and scout for deer.

Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Mount Hebron Cemetery, Joy, Arkansas.  Arrangements by Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. www.smithfamilycares.com
