James Jones
James "Jim" Allen Jones, 80, continued his spiritual journey October 29, 2017. He was born October 15, 1937 in Little Rock to the late Dewy and Ester Evans Jones.
Jim served in the United States Army in which he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Marksman Badge. He retired after 42 years of service at Ed's Supply Company in Little Rock. Jim was an avid deer hunter and crappie fisherman. He enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals and Travelers play baseball. Jim inspired others by sharing his experience, strength, and hope through 12-step work for over thirty-five years.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, James Dwight Jones; brother, Tommy Jones; and sister Barbara Jones.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Pamela Hawkins Jones of Benton, Arkansas; son, Jim Jones of Benton; three daughters: Carla Jones Rogers and husband Charles of Mabelvale, Arkansas, Kathleen Jones Rider and husband Curtis of Benton, and Susan Jones Witham and husband Ricky of Haskell, Arkansas; step-son, Alan Thomas of Benton; six grandchildren: Tiffany Jones, Jacob Jones, Megan Phillips, Emily Phillips, Zackry Phillips, PVT, and Hannah Rider; two great-grandchildren: Jaxon Teal and Cooper Hostetler; three sisters: Becky Owens Jones, Gwen McEven, and Nancy McElroy; his furry companion, Little Girl; and a host of family members and friends who love Jim and will miss him always.
Reception visitation held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday, November 1 at Smith-Benton Funeral Home, 322 N. Market St., Benton, Arkansas. Funeral service held at 12:30 PM, Thursday, November 2 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park with David Bliss, Robert Houpt, Bill Morgan, Rocky Burkhart, and Orville Loveless assisting as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Jeff Tucker, Tubby Bono, and Larry Dunn.
