James "Mike" Lett, an esteemed member of the law enforcement community and a devoted family man, passed away on November 8, 2023. Born on March 23, 1967, in San Antonio, Texas, Mike led a life marked by bravery, dedication, and love.

Mike's passion for service began when he proudly joined the United States Air Force as a Law Enforcement Specialist. His commitment to safeguarding his country led him to pursue a career in law enforcement after receiving an honorable discharge from the Air Force. Starting in Salt Lake City, where the city was in need of police officers, Mike embarked on a journey that spanned across various departments and agencies.

Throughout his years of service, Mike worked diligently with the Maumelle Police Department, Pulaski County Sheriff Department, Attorney General's Office, Saline County Sheriff Department, and the Benton Police Department. His expertise and versatility were evident as he served in different roles within these agencies. In recognition of his talents and dedication to his craft, Mike was appointed as a detective for the Benton Special Investigations Unit in 2019.

In addition to his work in law enforcement, Mike was also an Arkansas Certified Accident Reconstruction Investigator. He generously shared his knowledge and experience with others as an instructor. Many individuals had the opportunity to learn from him through his teachings on topics such as law enforcement, crime scene investigation, concealed handgun license, and more.

Outside of his professional pursuits, Mike cherished his family above all else. He adored his children: Amanda Matthews and her husband David of San Antonio, Texas; Becca Lett of Jonesboro, Arkansas; Aimee Martinez and her husband Sam of San Antonio Texas; Kalynn Palmer and her husband Austin of Sherwood Arkansas; and Logan Lett of North Little Rock Arkansas. The joy he experienced was immeasurable as he watched over his grandchildren Evie Matthews, and Arley Palmer.  He has now met and walks with his angel grandbaby, Micah Matthews.

Mike's siblings, Gayle Boliou and her husband Paul of Sherwood, Arkansas, and Peggy Kirkham of Clayton, Indiana, were constants in his life. The love and support they shared with one another were unbreakable. He also cherished his special relationship with his adoptive parents, Jay and Darlene Dickman.  In addition to his human companionship circle, Mike shared deep bonds with his beloved pets: Vlad the wolf dog, Nikki the dog, and his cats:  Spectacles,  Suki, and Cumin; and Honey the horse who brought immeasurable joy into his life.

Preceding Mike in death are his parents, James and Annie Lett, and brother-in-law Russell Kirkham, whose memories remain in the hearts of their family.

Among Mike's many interests were animals. He possessed a deep affection for creatures of all kinds.  He had an unwavering passion for motorcycles, especially Valkyries. An adventurous soul, Mike was a certified scuba diver who reveled in exploring the underwater world. Additionally, he found solace and excitement as a gun enthusiast.

Friends held a special place in Mike's heart, which ran deeper than blood. Among them, his long-time best friend, brother, "partner for life, but not life partner", Donny Antone.   They shared countless cherished memories.  He was grateful for the unwavering support offered to him by his "Blue Family," who stood together through thick and thin.  He also shared a special bond with his partner, Julia.

As the news of his passing resonates among those fortunate enough to have known him, Mike will be remembered for his loving nature and devotion to family and friends. His signatures included displaying affection through playful annoyances—a testament to the joy he found in being close to loved ones.
