James William Porter

 

James William Porter, 96, of Hensley passed away June 23, 2023.  He was born in Pulaski County to the late Jimmy and Abby Porter. 

James was preceded in death by all of his siblings; his wife, Ruth Lee Porter; their son, Richard Porter,; sons-in-law: Vernon Crutchfield, Glen Roberts and Mike Smith.

Survivors include children: Janie Crutchfield, J.D. Porter (Mary), Shirley Doherty (Billy Ray), Kathleen Roberts, and Elizabeth Smith; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Dot.

He served in the United States Army during World War II and was a retired carpenter.  After his retirement, he worked at Wal-Mart where he was lovingly referred to as “Pappy”.  He enjoyed fishing in his spare time and was of the Pentecostal Faith. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Graveside service will begin at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at Landmark Cemetery, Landmark Community.
