James Edward "Ace" Speers

James Edward “Ace” Speers, age 68, of Bonnerdale, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023.

He was born on September 30, 1954, in Hot Springs, the son of Leonard Eugene Speers and Voncile Shinkle Speers.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Alma Bates. 

James “Ace” was a Christian and a member of Grand Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.  He worked as a crew chief for the Community Service Office.  Ace also had worked as a concrete finisher for C.J. Horner for several years and for Delta Plastics. 

Ace's legacy extended into the community through his involvement in organizations such as the VFW Men’s Auxiliary. He dedicated his time and energy, making a positive impact on the lives of others.

He was quite the joker and loved to make people laugh.  He was an outdoorsman, loving to deer hunt and an avid Hog fan.  Although he may no longer be physically present, his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Linda Speers; his brother, Steve (Regina) Speers; his brother-in-law, Randy Bates; his sister, Vonda (Steve) Kendall; nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00PM, Tuesday, October 3, 2023, with Bro. Shane Robertson officiating in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs.  Visitation will be 5:00PM-7:00PM, Monday evening at the funeral home.

Interment will be in the Mount Gilead Cemetery in Blacksprings.

Pallbearers are Clay Speers, Chance Speers, Jeremy Bates, Randy Bates, Mike Pitts, Donald Goodin, Andrew Millwood and Aaron Millwood.

Honorary pallbearers are Wayne Brown, Frank Pitts, Rodney Nichols, Dr. Robert T. Muldoon and Gary Love.
