Reverend James Clifton Wilcox, age 84, of Little Rock, born July 25th, 1921 to the late Robert and Nora (Hoskins) Wilcox, left his journey with dementia and Parkinson's with the Lord ‘s blessing on February 15th, 2006. He is missed and his memory is cherished by his loving bride, Bernice (Smithee) Wilcox, after 61 years of love and friendship. Bernice, daughter of the late Lee and Louie Smithee of Bold Springs, and he were wed September 17th, 1944. Dad passed away at his son and daughter in-law's home, Timothy Lee and Kathy Lee Wilcox in Little Rock. He was preceded to heaven's gates by his grandchildren, Baby Lee (1993) and Baby Lee (2002); sisters, Cora, Hazel and Ruby; and brothers, Robert and Joseph Marvin Wilcox. Missing him dearly are his sister, Marie Corbin of Searcy and brother, Claude and wife, Linda, of Bald Knob; sons, Carroll and wife, Cheryl of Little Rock; Harold and wife, Brenda of Jonesboro; six grandsons: Lance and Todd Wilcox of Jonesboro; James and Brian Wilcox of Kingwood, TX; Adam Wilcox of West Monroe, LA and Chris Wilcox; two step-granddaughters, Lindsay Hart of Benton and Courtenay McClellan of Bryant; great-grandchildren: Lauren, Blair, Heath and Seth Wilcox of Jonesboro; and step-great-granddaughters, Ainsley and Arys Hart of Benton; and several nieces and nephews. Dad loved Our Lord and spent his 60 years of Missionary Baptist ministry pastoring churches, preaching revivals and leading summer church camps in Arkansas and northern Louisiana. He often said, "If there was a call within the call to ministry, it was performing funerals. Funerals are where I feel I'm called, helping out a family and their loved ones, helping a soul to the peace he or she looked for in themselves, the answer always leading to the Lord." James was an avid golfer and looked forward to the BMA Pastors' Retreat each year. He and his friends could relax and enjoy the game they loved so much. Many trophies were brought home over the years. May his new found comfort be comfort to us all. Dad is at peace. Pray, for the rest he has now, that warm peaceful feeling he must have felt when the Lord's arms welcomed him home. Thank you Lord for the journey you let us have with Dad. Missing him started many months ago. Loving him began years ago.
