James "Hacksaw" Wilder, age 80, of Amity passed away Thursday, May 1, 2025. He was born September 1, 1944 in Amity, Arkansas to the late Dan Russell and Nellie Edith (Newton) Wilder. Hacksaw enjoyed working on cars and building motorcycles. He was a great horse trader. However, Hacksaw's favorite hobby was holding down the couch and piddling in his shop. He absolutely cherished his children, especially his grandbabies and fur babies. Hacksaw was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Johnny Spencer; step-mother, Irene Wilder; grandsons, Colby Wilder and Pierson James "P.J." Geurin; sister, Shirley Anderson; and brothers, Glen Dale Wilder and Stevie Spencer.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, April Wilder of Amity; children, Melanie (Charles) Wilder, Loretta Wilder, Rusty (Erica) Wilder, Sammie (Drew) Geurin, and Spencer (Abbey) Wilder; grandchildren, Tenisha Wilder, Hadley Wilder, and Madi Grace Wilder; great-grandchildren, Ah'manii Wilder and Zayden Wilder; and brother, Jack (Sondra) Spencer; and a host of nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
Memorial services are 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 5, 2025 at Smith Family Funeral Home-Glenwood Chapel with Brother Jerry Fagan officiating.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Chen, Tameisha Baxter of Genesis Cancer Center, and the staff of Nightingale Nursing Home in Glenwood with a special thanks to Jessie Young. The family would also like to thank Home Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society.
