Jane Greenwood Cantrell 97, was born in Brooklyn, NY to Henry Emile Greenwood, Sr. and Ethel Larrieu Greenwood. At two years of age her family moved to New Orleans, where she lived till moving to Texas. There, in 1967, she joined her oldest daughter in attending college at Southwestern Union College in Keene. Later she completed a degree in dietetics at Loma Linda University, Loma Linda, California (1978).
She served as a Food Service Director at Valley Grande Academy (Texas), Beeville Memorial Hospital (Texas), Loma Linda University Campus Kitchen (California). After graduation Jane held the position of Chief Administrative Dietitian at Union College (Nebraska), and Ouachita Hills Academy (Amity, Arkansas).
She moved to Amity in 1985 where she later married Vernon Cantrell. Jane embraced her now large, blended family of sons, daughters, grandchildren, brothers and sister with love and caring she was known for.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Vernon, her youngest son Michael Walgamotte, her parents Henry Sr. and Ethel Greenwood, her brothers Henry Greenwood Jr., Melvin Greenwood , Roland Greenwood, and Ralph Greenwood.
She is survived by her children Harriet Clark (Chester) of Amity, Melvin Edwards, (Denise) Carriere, Mississippi, Lynda Edwards Whinnery of Yuba City, California, Cindy Cantrell Dillavou of Arkadelphia, Arkansas, Royce Cantrell of Galena, Kansas and Susie Cantrell of Glenwood, as well as 22 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great grandchild.
Jane was recognized for her ability as a teacher, the wonderful food she cooked, her dedication to the training of work skills to the students in the food service department, her love and generosity towards her children and grandchildren and everyone else, and her love for Jesus and desire to see her family united in the kingdom of God.
The family will be holding a memorial service will be held at the Amity, Seventh-day Adventist church on April 24 at 3:30. Visitation at the church will be from 1:30-3:30.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home- Glenwood.
