Janet Carolyn Berry was born on February 29, 1936, in Little Rock, Arkansas, and passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother whose warmth, humor, and generous spirit left a lasting mark on everyone who knew her.
Janet’s life was deeply rooted in love for her family. She shared 47 years of marriage with her devoted husband, Robert Berry, and together they raised seven children: Stephen “Scott” Wright; Rhonda Roe and her husband Paul; Victoria Breeding; Pam Salazar; Dana Cook; Robert Berry; and Joshua Berry and his wife Patricia. Her family grew to include many grandchildren—Halana, Pascha, Jaron, Chris, Tim, Joey, Heather, Isaac, Jacob, Luke, Joe, River, Gabby, Lauren, Bryce, Ben, Craig, Noah, Nicole, and Ashleigh—as well as great-grandchildren Noah, Ethan, Dreamy, Aiden, Gracie, Heaven, Lanie, Lily, Braelyn, Christian, Teagan, Brady, Michael, Keagan, and Nicklaus; and great-great-grandchildren Cohen, Ella, and Weston.
She is also lovingly remembered by her brothers, Benjamin “Byron” Crain and his wife, Virginia, and Gary S. Crain
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin O. and Janie L. (Marsh) Crain; and her loving son-in-law, Stephen Salazar.
Those who knew Janet will remember her as a strong woman—both physically and mentally—with an infectious laugh and a smile that could brighten any room. She loved expressing herself, often sparkling with plenty of bling, and she never hid her love for chocolate or good food. Janet embraced life with enthusiasm and a sense of fun. She loved the outdoors, hiking and camping, and even drag racing her Monte Carlo on Asher and University. She and Robert shared many memorable moments running marathons together, with Janet often dressing up as Elvis or other characters, delighting everyone around her.
Creativity flowed naturally through Janet’s life. She was a talented artist, known for her beautiful oil paintings, and she generously shared her gift by teaching painting lessons for many years. As a proud Master Gardener, she also found joy in cultivating beauty in the natural world.
Her faith was central to who she was. Janet was a devoted member of Agape Church in Little Rock and loved the Lord deeply. She made it a priority to share that faith with her family, teaching them about God through both words and example. One of her most cherished moments was teaching her brother how to pray—something he continues to hold close to his heart.
Janet’s adventurous spirit never faded. At 82 years young, she went ziplining with her granddaughter, perfectly capturing her belief in living life fully and without regret.
A celebration of Janet’s life will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026, at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church in Alexander, Arkansas. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. She will be laid to rest at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander at 12:00 p.m.
Janet Carolyn Berry will be deeply missed, but her love, laughter, creativity, and faith will continue to live on in the many lives she touched.
