Jerry Dean Lewis, age 87, of Washington, North Carolina (originally from North Little Rock, Arkansas), passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. Born on July 28, 1938, in Batesville, Arkansas, he was the son of Joel Robert and Anna Inez Lewis
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Joel Robert and Anna Inez Lewis, Joel Robert Lewis, Jr. (brother), Zelda Mae Woods (sister), Mary Fransis Lewis (sister), Chester Osborne Lewis (brother), Anna Lee Eauton (sister), Robbie Joe Prior (sister), and Ashtyn Elizabeth Lewis (granddaughter).
Jerry is survived by his wife, Freda Carol Cowan Lewis; brother - Noel Edward Lewis (Carlean); sister - Wanda Inez Lassiter; son - Michael David Lewis (Bethany); daughter - Michele Ann Lewis; daughter - Melinda Lynn Walker (Darren); 7 grandchildren – Britney Jade Greenfield (Aaron); Collin Michael Lewis; Abby Danielle Walker; Parker David Lewis; Sydney Shae McClure (Drew); Halle Beth Smith (Spencer); Lleyton Tal Lewis; 1 great grandchild – Karis Jade Greenfield; 1 great grandchild on the way – John Beckham McClure; and a host of nephews and nieces.
Jerry dedicated more than 50 years in the fire sprinkler industry and was a proud member of the North Little Rock Gideons. He faithfully served as a deacon at First Free Will Baptist Church in North Little Rock, Arkansas where his commitment to his faith and community was evident in all he did.
Jerry lived a life marked by deep love – for his family, his church, the beauty of flowers, the joy of children, and above all, for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He would want everyone to know that Jesus loves you and the most important thing in this life is to be saved and to faithfully serve the Lord. His life will leave a lasting legacy of faith, kindness, and devotion.
A devoted teacher of the Word, Jerry shared his faith both within the church walls and in everyday life. His sweet smile, steady wisdom, and constant encouragement touched countless hearts. He was a gracious and gentle man, a true example of Christian character, and one of the finest men many have ever known. Even in difficult times, he faced every challenge with quiet strength and unwavering trust in God.
Visitation will begin at 10:00AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00AM at First Free Will Baptist Church, 2001 Parkway Drive, North Little Rock, AR 72118 on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. Interment will be at Rest Hills Cemetery, 7724 Landers Rd, North Little Rock, AR 72117. Funeral service will be livestreamed on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/@ffwbnlr.
