Jerry Lee McAfee, 86, of Maumelle, passed away October 7, 2017. He was born March 19, 1931 in Gurdon, Arkansas to Mary and Walter McAfee of Pine Bluff. He is survived by his wife Deborah Yeldell McAfee, Ed D and his children Monnie (Johnny) Carpenter of Jefferson City, TN, Connie Adams of Hot Springs, Toni (Mark) Cummings of Pine Bluff, Jabe (Elan) McAfee of Hot Springs, Teresa Garrett of Camden, Daron McAfee of Santa Monica, CA and Missy McAfee of Little Rock, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, all of whom he adored.
Jerry served in the U.S. Navy and worked with Ben Pearson Advertising before retiring from Cotton Belt Railroad. As he and friend David Ragar would say, "Train your mind to mind your train." He was a member of Pulaski Heights Baptist Church.
Jerry enjoyed traveling, the dog he would never go anywhere without, reading and listening to music of all genres! He truly enjoyed his small roles in "Sling Blade," "Daddy and Them" and "Evening Shade" episodes. He loved playing cards and his ability in math was phenomenal. He was able to visit with each of his children during the past few weeks and that made him smile! Jerry truly became a friend to all he met.
A family graveside service will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Mt. Holly Cemetery. The service will be officiated by Dr. Ray Higgins of Cooperative Baptist of Arkansas, with prayer by Dr. Randy Hyde of Pulaski Heights Baptist Church.
