Jerry Dean McMillion

Jerry Dean McMillion along with his twin sister Sherry were born to Perry and Fern McMillion on March 23, 1938.

After working his way through Ouachita Baptist College, he graduated as the first in his family to earn a degree.

During his lifetime he coached various sports in Arkansas and Missouri. One of his players said of him, “Coach, you didn’t just teach us to play, you taught us to be men.”

He and his beloved wife, Ann and two children moved back to Arkadelphia in 1974. While living in Arkadelphia he worked with Ouachita Baptist University maintenance. He was a master electrician which led to him teaching shop for 15 years in the Arkadelphia Public Schools. For another 15 years he taught elementary physical education. He drove a school bus for 30 years.

A man of great common sense and a loving heart, he is survived by his wife, Ann, son Bud (Amanda), daughter Penny (Chris), grand-daughter Audrey (Connor), grandson Noah (Sumaiya) and great-grand-daughter Felicity.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Arkadelphia, Clark County Humane Society, and Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church Broadcast Ministry.
