Jesse F. Lane

Jesse F. Lane, age 94, of Hot Springs, passed away on December 10, 2023.

He was born on June 29, 1929, in Conway, the son of George Oliver Lane and Joan Sebastion Lane.  He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Veda Elder Lane; his parents; and one daughter, Katrina Nies.

Jesse was a Christian and a longtime member of Central Baptist Church.  He worked for the Southwestern Bell/AT&T telephone company for 35 years before retiring.  He was an avid outdoorsman and had a love for fishing and camping.  He taught all his family the art of fishing.  One of our favorite memories of him is a time when during isolation he and Miles went out fishing while it was snowing and they had such a great time.  He just enjoyed life to the fullest and enjoyed sharing it with his family and friends.  Jesse was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a friend to many, who will be greatly miss by all that knew and loved him.

He is survived by three children, Janet (Dave) Brown of Belton, Missouri, Diane (Johnnie) Pate of Benton and Marcie Hermann of Hot Springs; son-in-law, Rick Nies of Melbourne, Florida; ten grandchildren, Natalie Freeman, Brad Brown, Ben Brown, Andrea Sowell, Elliott Pate, Adam Nies, Aaron Nies, Rebecca Nies, Sarah Beth Nies and Miles Hermann; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

Funeral services will be 11:00AM, Friday, December 15, 2023, with Chaplain Ken Aden officiating in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs.

Interment in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be 10:00AM-11:00AM, prior to the service.

Pallbearers are Brad Brown, Ben Brown, Elliott Pate, Miles Hermann, Harley Sowell and Johnnie Pate.

Honorary pallbearers are his Angel caregivers here on Earth, Marcia George, Retha Grice, Crystal Langston, Shonda Garland, Donnie Garland and Melinda Castaneda.  The family would like to express a special thank you to Dierksen Hospice for their excellent care.
