Jim Bivens

Jim Bivens, age 72, of Beebe, died Tuesday July 23, 2013. He was born September 17, 1939 in Lonoke, Arkansas to Denver and Marcelle (Johnson) Bivens. Jim graduated from Lonoke High School and Henderson State University. He coached at numerous schools through out Arkansas, including Jacksonville, Nashville, and Trumann; he was also Head Coach at Beebe High School for twelve years. After retiring from coaching and education, Jim became an Insurance Agent for State Farm Insurance Company. He served in that capacity for twenty one years and retired in 1999.


He is survived by his sons; Mark and wife, Wendy of Beebe and Owen of Little Rock; Brothers, Johnny and wife, Elsie and Ronnie Bivens all of Lonoke, and Randy and wife, Vicki of Jacksonville; five grandchildren, Alli, Jake, Wade, Brock, and Sawyer Bivens.


Jim is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Carolyn.


Memorials may be made in Jim's honor to Beebe Public Education Foundation, Inc., 1201 W. Center, Beebe, Arkansas 72012.

Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 26, 2013, at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe with burial in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Beebe.
