Jimmy Estes

Jimmy Lee Estes, 84, of Little Rock, died on September 30, 2019. He was born in Little Rock, the son of Dr. E. E. Estes and Opal Mason Estes, and grew up in Fordyce. He also lived in El Dorado and Bella Vista, Arkansas. After graduating from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, he served as an officer in the U.S. Navy. He began his business career with the Travelers Insurance Company as an agents representative and then became an Independent Insurance Agent for 35 years. He was a Christian of the Methodist faith.

He is survived by his sons, Dr. Mark E. Estes and his wife, Christy, and Matthew K. Estes; daughter, Kelly Estes Currence and her husband, Jerry; brother, Frank M. Estes and wife, Carolyn, of Kingsland, Texas; ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dr. E. E. Estes, Jr.

During his life he served his community in many civic and charitable organizations. He was vice-president of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, Chairman of the Civil Service Commission, President and Board of Directors of the Kiwanis Club, Board of Directors of the Boys Club, and board member of the Independent Agents of Arkansas.

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Little Rock Public Library, 100 Rock St., Little Rock, AR 72201.
