Jimmy B Rowan

Jimmy B. Rowan, known fondly as "Buddy" to his family and friends, passed away on June 22, 2024 at the age of 85. He was born in Bland, Arkansas, on February 21, 1939, to Judge Duff and Cynthia May (Johnson) Rowan.

Buddy led a fulfilling life marked by dedication and hard work. He proudly served in the United States Army before embarking on a career as a machine operator that spanned over forty years. Even after retiring, he continued to share his skills by working part-time with Middleton Heat and Air until the age of 80.

Outside of work, Buddy pursued various hobbies and interests that brought him immense joy. An avid fisherman and former hunter, he found peace in nature's beauty. He kept active by walking around his neighborhood daily and was a valued member of the Rusty Wheels Engine Club. Buddy's intellectual curiosity led him to explore interests like reading, genealogy, and computers.

He was a beloved member of the community with a generous spirit. Buddy enjoyed spending time with friends at the Senior Center, engaging in their activities and sharing stories. His passion for beekeeping showcased his nurturing side and deep connection to nature.

Buddy will be dearly missed by his surviving family: daughter Ellen Marie Rowan of Lake Village, Arkansas; son Richard Glen Rowan of Benton, Arkansas; grandson Carson Scott Rowan of Benton, Arkansas; brothers Payton Rowan of Red Bluff, California and Clyde Rowan (wife Linda) of Benton, Arkansas; niece Melanie Williams (husband Ed) of Benton, Arkansas; nephew Ricky Williams; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who cherished him.

He is now reunited in peace with his parents Judge Duff and Cynthia May Rowan, along with siblings J.D. Rowan and Berta Jo White.

Visitation service will be held on June 27th from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Smith Family Funeral Home in Benton followed by a Graveside Service at Old Union Cemetery at 12:00 PM.

As we remember Buddy's life filled with warmth and kindness, may his memories continue to inspire us all.
