Jo Helen Fletcher, born October 5, 1945, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, passed away November 1, 2025. She lived a life filled with color, creativity, and love, leaving behind a legacy that continues to brighten the hearts of all who knew her.
For 40 years, Jo shared her artistic talent and passion with the students of Benton Public Schools, inspiring generations to see the world through the eyes of an artist. Her classroom was a place of imagination and encouragement, where young minds were nurtured and creativity knew no bounds.
Known for her spunky spirit and signature purple hair, Jo embraced life with confidence and joy. She was unapologetically herself—vibrant, witty, and endlessly curious. With a master’s degree in education, she never stopped learning, and she found as much joy in reading and discovering new things as she did in teaching others.
Her artistic touch extended well beyond the classroom. Whether she was knitting, crocheting, embroidering, sewing, or decorating cakes, every piece she created carried her warmth and attention to detail. She also loved spending time outdoors relaxing by the water with a fishing pole in hand. At Fox Ridge, she was affectionately known as the “BINGO Queen,” a title she wore proudly and playfully.
A former member of First United Methodist Church, Jo continued to nurture her faith while living at Fox Ridge, attending services led by Pastor Emil Woerner from Friends in Christ Lutheran Church.
Jo Helen shared 43 wonderful years with her husband, David C. Fletcher, whose love and devotion were constants in her life. She is also survived by her daughter, Carol Fletcher, her close niece, Jennifer “Jenni” Chambers, and her close cousin, Tommy Westbrook who will forever carry her creative spark and joyful spirit. Many cousins, extended family members, and dear friends will also hold her close in their hearts.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Jewel Mae (Parker) Eberhard, and stepfather, Herman Eberhard.
Visitation held Wednesday, November 5, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Smith-Benton Funeral Home, 322 N. Market Street, Benton, Arkansas. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., with interment following at Rosemont Cemetery.
Jo Helen Fletcher’s legacy will live on in every heart she inspired. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
