Joan Marie Parish

Joan Marie (Feathers) Parish, 84, of Sherwood, Arkansas, passed away on September 09th, 2026. Joan was surrounded by her family and friends as she peacefully passed at home.

Joan, born January 1942, was originally from Memphis, Tennessee. The daughter of Valley (Houston) Feathers, Joan attended Humes High School in Memphis.

She married Charles Ray Parish of Locke Station, Mississippi in 1959, and was his devoted wife for 61 years.

Joan loved spending time with her family, enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, shopping and Christmas. Known as a sweet and gentle soul, everyone who met her loved her.

The wife of a military man, she resided in Texas, Mississippi, Virginia and Arkansas, retiring in Sherwood.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Charles and her sisters Vivian Welch and Genelle Hauser.

She is survived by her daughter Donna (Tom) Zahorec, son David (Tricia) Parish, her granddaughters Stephanie (Chaz Reed) Parish and Kelsey (Trey Fox) Zahorec; as well as many other extended family members and friends.

Joan will be remembered by all who knew her for her generosity, gentle nature and sweet spirit.

Her life and her love will live forever in our hearts.

Honoring Joan as pallbearers will be; Trey Fox, Billy Welch, Joe Hauser, Bobby Holleman, Melvin Halstead, and Eugene Taylor.

The visitation service will be held at Smith Sherwood Funeral Home on Monday, September 14, at 10:30 AM, with burial to follow.
