JoAnn Chandler Allen, was born in Cleveland, Ohio, September 25th, 1949, and passed away peacefully Saturday November 9th, 2024 at her home.
Joann met her current husband Pat in the fall of 1997. Together, they soon joined the Goldwing Roadriders motorcycle club. They had many enjoyable road trips together. In her spare time, she fell in love with country western dancing. Pat and JoAnn kicked up their heels for many years. JoAnn married Edward Patrick Allen in Bettendorf, Iowa on July 19th 2003 in a spectacular home garden setting with a parade of dozens of brightly colored Goldwing Motorcycles and festive Country Western Dancers.
JoAnn worked as a Chaplin in jails for incarcerated women in Davenport, Iowa for several years. After working with these women, JoAnn made the noble decision to work with young, disadvantaged girls to guide them and lead them away from lifestyles that led to incarceration. She began fostering numerous young women and was an essential “to help them turn their lives around”.
JoAnn and Pat moved to Arkansas in 2012 for warmer weather and to be closer to some of their grandchildren. She joined the Bryant Senior Activity Center where she excelled in quilt making by hand. She passed many happy hours at home by sewing lap blankets and donating them to local nursing homes.
She was an active member of the Hurricane Lake Baptist Church where she enjoyed hosting women’s bible studies until her health declined.
JoAnn is preceded in death by her mother, Beatrice Tallon and father, Carl Douglas Chandler; sister, Barbara Montgomery; brother, Richard Tallon, and grandchild, Carlie Snell.
She is cherished in life by her husband of 21 years, Edward “Pat” Allen; her children: Tod Douglas Snell (Addie) and Joseph Henry Snell III (Rosa); her grandchildren: JoAnna Perry (Joshua), Joseph Snell (Katelynn), Jasmine Snell, Joshua Snell, Caitlyn Snell, and Cassandra Snell; her great-grandchildren, Victoria Snell-Morris and Colette Koenig; her siblings: Liz DiMarco, Carlene Johnson, Billie Lynch, Donald Tallon, Donna Tallon-Thompson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends.
