Joe W. Baker, 80, of Benton, went to his heavenly home September 4, 2021. He was born in Benton, Arkansas on November 30, 1940 to C.L. and Josephine Baker.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, a sister, and his son, Tracy D. Baker.

Joe was Baptist and a member of Congo Road Baptist Church. Joe also served in the US Army from 1963-1965. He was stationed overseas in Germany.

Joe retired from Colonial Baking Company. He also worked at Aimco for ten years. He was a volunteer firefighter for Salem Fire Department for 19 years retiring as assistant chief.

Joe is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marilyn (Marshall) Baker; son, Brian (Carol) Baker; grandchildren: Zachary Baker, Justin (Cassidy) Baker, Jeremy Baker, Paige Eubanks, Brianna (Clayten Nichols) Baker, and Joey (Samantha) Baker; great grandson, Asher (who he loved more than all the stars in the whole wide world); his fur baby, Sugar; and a host of other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

Joe was a very loving, caring, and gentle man who will be greatly missed.  He was an incredible husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 AM, Thursday, September 9 at Smith-Benton Funeral Home followed by memorial service with Daniel Dodson officiating. A private burial will be held.
