John Basel

John Kline Basel, 77, of Little Rock, born January 24, 1940, went to his heavenly home on Friday, July 7, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Kansas City, Kansas. The son of Irwin Basel and Lois Basel Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Johnnie Jr.

John is survived by those who he loved the most, his beloved wife of 32 years, Evelyn, and children, David Basel of Lodi, California; Kathi Smith of Lodi, California; Cheryl Hensley of Stockton, California; Sean Basel of Spring City, Tennessee; Janet Thomas (Avery) of Hensley, Arkansas; Scott Metzger of Little Rock; grandchildren, Lance Matthews (Kimi); Sabrina Williams (Bo); Crystal Smith; David Basel, Jr.; Douglas Basel; Hailey Campbell; Anna Walker; Jessica Grube; Justin Basel; Aaron Basel; Aubrey Basel; great-grandchildren, Samantha and Alex Matthews; Colton Cupples; Brooklyn Basel; Jade Basel; Bailey Basel; and Alice Campbell.

John graduated from North Little Rock High School in 1957. He served proudly in the U.S. Navy in San Francisco and Stockton, California. He was an avid fisherman.

He will long be remembered for his love and devotion to God and his family.

Visitation will be Monday, July 10th at 10:00 AM at Bingham Road Baptist Church. Funeral service will held at the church starting at 11:00 AM. Burial service will be held at 12:00 PM, Tuesday, July 11th at the Arkansas State Veteran's Cemetery, 1501 W. Maryland Ave., North Little Rock.
