John William Black, age 80, of Royal, passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2022.

 

He was born on October 11, 1941, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, the son of Sheridan S. Black and Annie Lewis Black.  On November 3, 2002, he married Charlotte Cowart. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Rose Ann Battenfield; and two brothers, Roy Black and Robert Black.

 

John was a United States Army Veteran.  He was an avid deer hunter.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.

 

Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Charlotte Black of Royal; his step-son, James Westmoreland of Hot Springs; his step-daughter, Tammy Green of Hot Springs; three step-grandsons, Lance Green, Matthew Westmoreland and Eddie Westmoreland; two nephews, Gardner Black of Crystal Springs and Evan Black of Alamo; three nieces, Amanda Fox and Joy Black, both of Crystal Springs and Sarah Christian of Texas; six great-nephews; extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

 

Arrangements are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home, Hot Springs.
