John Clay

John Calvin Clay, 85, of Sherwood was called home to Heaven Wednesday, December 28, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mabel Morden Clay; daughter, Anne (Terry) Fugatt of Phoenix, Arizona; and a son, John Calvin Clay, Jr. also of Phoenix; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by three brothers; Donnie (Hilda) Clay of Searcy, Julis (Ruth) Clay of Ola, Orbin (Betty) Clay of Little Rock and one sister; Charlene Clay of Little Rock.
He is preceded in death by a son, James David Clay; daughter, Barbara Jane Clay; his parents, John Kenzy and Emma Vardell Clay; two brothers; and two sisters.
Calvin served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He is retired from Central Arkansas Transit. He was a Deacon at Claremont Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at Smith - North Little Rock Funeral Home on January 5, 2017, at 10:30 A.M. by Reverend James Williams. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 A.M. prior to the service. Burial will be at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, 1501 West Maryland Avenue, Sherwood, Arkansas following the service.
