John Stephen Dawson

John “Stephen” Dawson, 53, of Little Rock passed away unexpectedly on January 30, 2023.  He is survived by his mother, Mary Margaret Dawson; brother, Mike Dawson; daughter, Elizabeth; son, Andrew;  three first cousins and his former wife, Cathy. He was preceded in death by his father, William C. Dawson. 

Stephen was a graduate of Pulaski Academy, Ouachita Baptist University, the University of Arkansas, and pursued graduate education at the University of Tennessee.  He was also a published author.  He loved spending time with his family, reading, history, teaching, politics and especially his savior, Jesus Christ.  Stephen was bright, quick-witted and had a kind soul.  He had great empathy for the underrepresented, the suppressed and all those who struggle. 

A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm on Friday, February 3, 2023 at Smith Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at St. Andrews Anglican Church,  8300 Kanis Rd. A private family burial will be held at Mulberry Cemetery in England, AR.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that gifts be made to Saint Andrew’s Anglican Church.
