John Gerrit DeBoer, age 82, of Hot Springs, passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2022.

 

He was born on September 24, 1940, in San Antonio, Texas, the son of Jack Cornelius DeBoer and Gertrude VanDenburg DeBoer.  On June 1, 1962, he married the love of his life, Ruby Jewell Gossage.  He is preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Whitney Paige.

 

John was a Christian and a member of Oaklawn Church of God.  He loved the classical music, reading and most of all, spending time with his family.  He was a great husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.  He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.

 

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Ruby DeBoer; sons, Douglas DeBoer (Kathline) and Dillon DeBoer (Olivia); daughters, Sarah Echols (Chad) and Heather Cox (Kenny); one grandson, Joshua; two step-grandsons, Cole and Caleb; six great-grandchildren, Faith, Beyla, Scarlett, Ruby, Kolton and Reed; one brother, Jack DeBoer; nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of wonderful friends.

 

Visitation will be held at 9:30AM with the memorial service following at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, November 1, 2022, with Pastor Bill DeYoung officiating in the Oaklawn Church of God, 2110 7th Street, Hot Springs.

 

Arrangements are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home, Hot Springs.
