John Holcomb

John David Holcomb, 100, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Little Rock, AR on November 7. He was born September 24, 1915 in Prescott, AR to Addie Annabelle and Joseph Thomas Holcomb. John was a WWII veteran, having served his country in North Africa, Italy, and the Philippines. In 1946 he married Willye Theresa Gann and went to work for the U.S. Postal Service. They made their home in the Little Rock area and raised their family of three children. He enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, gospel quartet music and restoring antique furniture. John was a long-time member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

John is preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Willye. Survivors include his daughter, Theresa (Sam) Meredith of Hot Springs Village, and two sons: David (Anne) Holcomb of Little Rock, and Dr. Tim (Margie) Holcomb of Denver, CO. Other family includes grandchildren Dr. David Meredith of Boston, MA; Patrick Holcomb of Fayetteville, AR; Zach and Nick Holcomb, both of Denver; Paul Kelly (Courtney) of Little Rock; Matthew Kelley (Naomi) of Denver.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 11, Union Ridge Cemetery in Dayton, AR. The family would like to thank Monet, Rich, Betty, Brittany, and Terri of St. Vincent CHI. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your favorite charity.
