John H. Johnston of the Ferndale community in West Little Rock passed away at his home on Nov. 14, 2016 at the age of 69 after a battle with cancer. A celebration of his life will be held for friends and family to drop by at Maumelle Park Pavilion #3 from 1-4 pm on Saturday, November 19. He was a Vietnam Veteran who retired from the Little Rock Fire Department after serving for 30 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary, his parents, Bud and Sallie Johnston, sister Judy (Bruce) Thompson, daughters Nikki (Patrick) McDonald and Laura (Zac) Murtha, bonus son Edwin (Issa) Sharpe, and niece Kristen (Zach) Meador along with 10 grandchildren and 2 great nieces. In lieu of flowers, donations suggested to go to the Little Rock Animal Village, 4500 Kramer Street, Little Rock, AR 72204, (501) 376-3067.
