A loving and generous son, brother, husband, father and “Pea-Paw”, John Morrell Ketcher, passed December 1, 2024. John was born January 1, 1944 in Little Rock. He grew-up in North Little Rock and graduated from Park hill Elementary, Jefferson Davis Jr. High and Old Main High Schools. He attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville as an art major.
John served four years in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Conflict aboard the aircraft-carrier U.S.S. Constellation. He earned the National Defense Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Navy Unit Commendation Medal before being Honorably Discharged.
He faithfully worked in the family roofing business (Ketcher & Co., Inc.) for 22 years and ran his own roofing company (Knox Gill Roofing) for 11 years during the 1990’s. After semi-retiring, in 2001, he returned to the family business as Safety Director for 16 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Herman Ketcher, Jr. and Betty Cameron Ketcher, as well as his brother, William Thomas Ketcher and sister-in-law, Jane Marie Ketcher.
Survivors include one daughter, Katie (Michael) Litwa; 5 grandchildren: Mikey (Katy), Abby, Ginger, Johnna Bren and Miss Heidi Litwa; brothers: Ken Ketcher and Henry Herman Ketcher III; a “sister” Barbara Nelson, and many extended family and friends.
Memorial Service will begin at 10:30 AM, Monday, December 9, 2024 at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main Street. Interment with military honors will follow at the AR State Veterans Cemetery.
