John Martin

John Duane Martin Sr. passed away on August 7, 2013 in Abilene, Texas at the age of 77. He was born on May 21, 1936 in Kiowa, Oklahoma and was the son of John S. Martin and Novella Lavonna Martin.
Mr. Martin was a United States Air Force Veteran, throughout his military career he traveled many places and served four years in the Officer Candidate School, later raking four years as Staff Sergeant, he was skilled in flying B52's and had the opportunity to train officers during the Vietnam War. John was a part of the Strategic Air Command, which was an Air Force Major Command during the Cold War that commanded post aircraft; he later served in Plattsburg, New York and flew FB 111 Aircrafts as a navigator, and later officially retired from the United States Air Force as a Major. John was a loving and devoted father, who loved crossword puzzles, reading, fishing, computers and collecting stamps.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister June Eubanks and a brother Lloyd Smith.
Survivors include his children Jeanine Martin, Eilene Martin, John D. Martin Jr., Novella "Kay" King and William Martin; he is also survived by his wife and the mother of his children Mary J. Martin, eleven grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and two sisters Joyce Harp and Carolyn Davis.
Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 7, 2013 at Huson Funeral Home Chapel in Sherwood followed by a burial with military Honors at 11:00 a.m. at Arkansas State Veterans' Cemetery in North Little Rock.
