John Thomas Motes, co-owner and operator of George Motes AutoGroup (Pine Bluff), died peacefully at home on May 9, 2020 at the age of 60.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Julie Silver Motes; his children, Amanda Motes, Michael Motes, Mary Sabo, Marlee Coyle, Reilly Heffer, Darby Heffer, and Owen Heffer; his grandchild, Ama Boyd; his mother, Betty Henes Motes; and his siblings, Dick Motes, Libba Palozola, Cinda Motes, and Dodd Motes.
Thomas was born in Pine Bluff on May 17, 1959 to Sam Dodd Motes and Betty Motes. He attended Jefferson Prep High School in Pine Bluff and graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1983.
Thomas was a devoted father and loving husband. He enjoyed spending his winters duck hunting with his brother at their camp in Altheimer and summers boating with his family at the lake house in Hot Springs. He lived life to the fullest and brightened the lives of many others. He was extremely committed to his family and friends and a stronghold to everyone that knew him. He will be missed but never forgotten.
