John Rogers

John (JP) Rogers, 81, of Beebe, passed away August 7, 2023. He was born in Searcy on February 13, 1942, to Ham and Lottie (Plant) Rogers.

John (JP) was a family man through and through. His wife, Shirley, was the love of his life. He couldn’t say enough good things about her to anybody that would listen. He loved to pick at her and make her roll her eyes. He also loved being a father to his girls, Debbie and Nina. He always gave the best advice to his “baby girls.” He loved to tell them how proud he was of the women they became. Debbie and Nina gave him three granddaughters: Lauren, Macy, and Emma. He retired when the first grandchild was born and remained happily retired for 24 years. He cherished his title of “Grandad.”

John was a loving and caring brother as well. He was the baby in a large family, but he often took care of his older siblings, especially his sister Emma Gene Reames. He would do anything for his family. If they needed help, he’d be there at the drop of a hat, and he never wanted recognition or a reward for his good deeds.

He didn’t just help his family – he helped neighbors, friends, and even strangers. In fact, John never really met a stranger, because he loved to strike up a conversation with everyone he met. He loved spending time fishing at the river, and he loved to talk about fishing. He was a jokester by all accounts, always playing tricks on people and cracking jokes. His infectious laugh only made the jokes funnier.

John was everything a good person should be – honest, kind, generous, loving, humble, and genuine. He was truly one of a kind and will be sorely missed by many, many people.
