John William Taylor, age 87, of Rosboro, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 1, 2026.
He was born on January 2, 1939, in Amity. He was the son of Ivan Voyt Taylor and Gussie Mae Garner Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Jeanne Taylor.
John married the love of his life, Jeanne, on August 16, 1963. Together they had a beautiful family where he continued to make his story. He was a member of Glenwood First Baptist Church. John was a hard worker and wore many hats. He was a home builder, helped build the Georgia Pacific Sawmill where he later became superintendent, worked as a math teacher at Wynne and Glenwood Public Schools, and worked as a hospital administrator. His favorite hat was being granddad to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. John was a wonderful husband, father, granddad, and friend, and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Jalyn and James Walden of Glenwood and Jacynda and Paul Smith of Rosboro; his five grandchildren, Colt Hays, Caleigh Golden, James Mitchell, Cullen Smith, and Conner Smith; his three great-grandchildren, Holli Golden, Rylee Golden, and Jessie Mitchell; and his sister-in-law, June Harter of Hot Springs.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home- Glenwood.
The family will be holding graveside services on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Jones Cemetery with Bro. Erby Burgess officiating.
