Johnie R. Bean, age 79, of Bismarck, passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2017. He was born on May 28, 1938 in Amity, the son of Johnie Bean and Roxie Lily Garner Bean. He was preceded in death by his son, Terry Bean; his parents; and two brothers, Alton Bean and Grady Bean. He was a true outdoorsman and retired as a logger. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and always looked forward to the Colorado hunt every year with his brothers. At one time, he raised buffaloes. He is survived by his wife, Patsy Ransom of Bismarck; his son, Shaun Bean of Bluff City; his step-son, Bobby Ransom of Bonnerdale; ten grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; two brothers, Curt Bean of Amity and Buddy Bean of Mena; three sisters, Jean Harding of Bartlett, Tennessee, Reba Pennington and Nina Johns, both of Amity; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, October 11, 2017, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Bro. John Oliver and Bro. John McAnally officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Smyrna Cemetery near Okolona. Pallbearers will be Gary Doster, Gary Holmes, Scott Thomason, Stan Harding, Thomas Garner, Tim Bean, Fred Bean and Stan Bean. Honorary pallbearers will be L. J. Warneke, Ronnie ONeal, Bruce Doster, Charles Sorrells, Jim Daniel, Chris Madera and Glen J. Kight. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
